Gaudy Baron Butterfly
The first time I saw a Gaudy Baron Butterfly, I thought... That has to be photoshop! One quick Google seach and I was smitten. The Gaudy Baron ranges from almost amber, chartreuse green to bright turquoise blue, and are native to the southern Himalayas down through India. Some have been spotted as far as Malaysia. I love that the intricate design on the wing evokes the tapestries of the regions mentioned. 14" wide, 12" tall and over 10 lbs, this is my largest piece to date. Water-tight, this could be used as an actual vase, but really shines as a free standing piece of sculpture.
